APK Capri Pants!! Tuesday, 15 July 2008   Perhaps one of the hardest decisions when it comes to Parkour gear is... pants. Jeans are too restrictive and shorts fly everywhere. Well have no fear, APK is now selling Parkour capri pants . A handful of traceurs have been wearing these for quite some time at jams leaving many people asking, "Where can I get those? Those look great for training!" From our experience, they are the best pants we've used used for training parkour. Check them out at the store ! Madison Parkour Community Outreach Monday, 14 July 2008   Madparkour of Madison, WI has been working for the past year to develop some community outreach programs around the city. Using Jump Westminster as their guide and inspiration, they examined various organizations around the city that might be interested in parkour. They hooked up with Fit City which led them to work with Girls, Inc. a national non-profit youth organization dedicated to educating American girls. The training and conditioning sessions were very successful and MadPK will continue to working with Girls Inc this week. User comments (7) Read more... In my opinion it's the most important part because it trains your mind. It can shape your attitude, your thoughts, and your life in a significantly positive way. I'd like to share with you all my thoughts on what I consider one of the keys to great discipline. It's a simple little thing, something that takes little effort but can produce a great individual. Associated Press Parkour Article and Video Sunday, 13 July 2008   Thanks to Sarah Skidmore for her insightful coverage of Parkour! She's written an article for Associated Press which is not sensationalist nor portrays parkour as a daredevil extreme sport. Charles Dharapak filmed the accompanying video in DC and did a good job of fairly portraying the difference between Parkour and Freerunning. Levi Meeuwenberg explained Freerunning to Charlie and this helped him discern between the two. Tyson Cecka did a few runs and some experimentation with a route which proved to be a nice demonstration of Parkour. Billy "skipper" Hughes talked about the possible dangers in Parkour and that taking risk is not what Parkour is about. Mark Toorock, as usual, just talks :P William Schultz was also there for the filming but didn't get much coverage this time. Indiana Dunes Jam '08 Thursday, 10 July 2008   This Saturday traceurs from the Midwest will be heading to the Indiana Dunes State Park for a different type of jam.  Its good to get out and experience Parkour/Freerunning on a different landscape, this time being sand.  The soft cushioning of the dunes allows one to train more difficult movements and train them a larger scale. Having jams outside of the urban jungle will increase ones adaptation skills for new situations too and a lot can be learned training in these types on environments. Friday, 04 July 2008   "If you love your freedom, thank a vet". As we celebrate our country's independence it is important to remember those who have brought us that freedom and keep it for us. Today we're highlighting one of Primal Fitness / American Parkour's newest members "Smitty". Smitty is in the Army stationed in Bagdad, Iraq. To be more specific: 1LT Nicholas Smith, FOB LOYALTY, Baghdad, Iraq. Unit: Apache Troop 3rd Squadron 89th Cavalry. Smitty came to us recently wanting to learn more about Parkour as he knew that it would be directly applicable when he goes into law enforcement after his deployment. He's been working hard at the American Parkour WOD's to build up conditioning and will begin Parkour training next week. Smitty has been following along with CrossFit for a while now and also has some martial arts experience. He can be seen here this week after a sandstorm doing dive-bombers at the base. Tribe and Primal Fitness on Voice of America Tuesday, 01 July 2008   Members of the Tribe recently filmed with a crew from Voice of America for their Indoensia channel. We filmed around the Bethesda area and had a great afternoon and feel the story will be very positive! Vivit from VOA was very cool and joined in the Primal Fitness class - she's seen here learning how to do QM on a low wall. Read more for description and short video.   Philips TV Freerunning Video featuring Levi M [SkyNative] Monday, 30 June 2008   In December of 2007, Levi [SkyNative] Meeuwenberg and Mark [M2] Toorock flew out to Los Angeles to shoot a short video for Philips TV. Mark arrived early to help with location scouting and act as Stunt Coordinator to help the production go smoothly. Levi performed the freerunning stunts while working with the friendly and professional production company, Norvell Jefferson from Belgium. The video is part of a collection of shorts showing off the unique features of a new Philips Plasma TV screen, and will be displayed on these TVs in stores around the world. Our greatest of thanks to the director Yve Van Der Donck, as well as Syb Roell, Peter Peeters, and cameraman Marc Appeltans. Their whole team showed us the greatest of hospitality and friendship from the moment we began the project, and this made the whole experience a fun and memorable one.  "The Parkour film is one of the best films we ever produced." - Peter Peeters.
